Richard Gallahad: Director of Studies
Richard Gallahad, the Director of Studies at ASEAN Business English, is a versatile professional with a rich background in education, technology, and business. He pursued post-graduate studies in MA TESOL & Educational Technology at the University of Manchester. During this academic journey, a pivotal module on Intercultural Communication sparked his interest in the role of English language education within the context of ASEAN, ultimately leading to the foundation of ASEAN Business English.
Richard’s teaching career commenced in 2005 when he undertook the Trinity CertTESOL in Seville, Spain. Since then, he has continued to enhance his qualifications, including the Trinity CertIBET and Cambridge DELTA, attesting to his expertise in English language instruction.
Originally hailing from London, England, Richard’s academic pursuits led him to Cornwall in the UK, where he studied Online Journalism at Falmouth College of Arts. This programme was at the forefront of journalism in the era of ‘new media,’ exploring how news was disseminated on the internet and the collaborative nature of Web 2.0 journalism. Following graduation, he founded a website design company and relocated to Andalucía, Spain.
After a period of engagement with multimedia design, Richard ignited his passion for teaching English in 2005, with a particular focus on Business English. Since 2013, he has been teaching Business English online and training teachers in educational technology. Notably, Richard serves as the Senior Tutor on the CertIBET ‘Teaching Business English’ course at MisterBee.
Furthermore, he possesses extensive experience in designing online courses and supporting businesses worldwide in establishing their online educational platforms. Currently, Richard is also an online student at the Open University, pursuing studies in Philosophy & Psychological Studies, highlighting his dedication to continued learning and intellectual exploration. His multifaceted background and commitment to online education make him a dynamic leader in the field of English language instruction and educational technology.
Susan Deith: Head of IELTS
Susan Deith is the Head of IELTS at ASEAN Business English, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. As an official IELTS examiner with many years of experience, Susan has a deep understanding of the IELTS examination process. Her proficiency in this area is evident from her previous role, where she owned and operated a language centre in Nepal that specialized in IELTS preparation courses. At ASEAN Business English, she continues to oversee similar courses, ensuring that students receive top-notch preparation for the IELTS test.
Susan’s extensive teaching career includes a significant period with the British Council. With the Cambridge DELTA qualification, she is a highly experienced trainer in various fields. Susan’s unique background is not limited to teaching; prior to her teaching career, she worked in several large companies in the UK, accumulating valuable business experience.
Susan is a native English speaker from the UK and has been an English language trainer since 2000. Her global journey has taken her to various countries and organizations. Her diverse experiences include serving as an IELTS Examiner and Examiner Trainer with the British Council, where she honed her expertise. Her tenure at the British Council for over a decade underscores her commitment to language education. With the highest level of language teaching qualification, a DELTA, and over 20 years of experience, Susan Deith is a dedicated professional who continues to make a significant impact in the field of English language instruction. Her educational background includes a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Westminster. This combination of experience and qualifications makes Susan Deith a remarkable educator in the realm of English language training.
